  Joint NanoTera-SSSTC Pilot Grant: call for proposals 2011 

  Combining the strengths of Nano-Tera.ch and the Sino Swiss Science and Technology Cooperation (SSSTC) a joint call for proposals is now open. This call aims at creating grass root synergies to encourage Swiss-Chinese research collaborations within Nano-Tera.ch thematic areas.

  Submission deadline is June 30th, 2011

  Priority research areas are those covered by Nano-Tera.ch (see “Specific Goals of Nano-Tera.ch and figure 1 above), including and recommending, but not limiting to Wireless Sen-sor Networks and Internet of Things. These are recommended due to the identified objective of creating synergy in these fields with China.

  Nano-Tera.ch program two major strategic axes:

  • Research and development of advanced technologies, such as i) micro/nano-electronics, -electromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS) and -manufacturing proc-esses; ii) (bio)-sensors, actuators and their system-level integration; iii) information and communication sciences as well as systems and software engineering.
  • Integration of these technologies into application fields, such as wearable systems (e.g., for monitoring of patients, sportsmen, and the elderly), ambient systems (e.g., for environmental intelligence, building monitoring and virtual world) and remote sys-tems (e.g., remote sensing).

  Swiss NanoConvention 2011 am 18./19.Mai in Baden 

  Unter der Federführung der Empa findet auch 2011 wieder die NanoConvention statt. Die Teilnehmenden erhalten Einblick in die aktuellen Trends der Nanotechnologie und zwar aus verschiedenen Perspektiven: nicht nur die technischen Potentiale sondern auch mögliche Risiken werden offen und fundiert diskutiert. Die ZHAW School of Engieneering ist in der Trägerschaft beteiligt. Diese Veranstaltung ist aber auch für andere Bereiche der ZHAW interessant. Aktualisierung (14.04.2011): Mitarbeitende der ZHAW erhalten vergünstigte Konditionen bei der Teilnahme. Bei Interesse bitte bei Heinrich Stülpnagel den entsprechenden code erfragen.

  Mittwoch/Donnerstag, 18./19. Mai 2011, Kultur- und Kongresszentrum TRAFO Baden

  Dem bewährten Konzept der Empa-NanoConvention folgend und doch anders, wird die Swiss NanoConvention alljährlich in verschiedenen Regionen der Schweiz gastieren. Die Veranstaltung wird abwechselnd von den Hauptakteuren der Schweizer Nano-Szene organisiert. Träger der Veranstaltungsreihe sind das Schweizerische Netzwerk für Mikro- und Nanotechnologie (MNT) und die darin vertretenen Institutionen.
